Biosecurity for future security officers (mandatory)

 

Target group

The Centre teaches free courses to biosecurity officers who are employed at companies and institutions that must adhere to Act no. 53 of 11 January on control of animal pathogens and Act no. 474 of 17 June 2008 on security of certain biological agents, delivery systems and related materials. The course is mandatory for future biosecurity officers. Course participants must sign a form of consent for the aquisition of a criminal record for public use at the Central Criminal Register. The criminal record is an integrated part of the assessment of the participant’s suitability as biosecurity officer.

 

Objective

The course objective is to provide a theoretical introduction to the background of the legislation on biosecurity and the course addresses all aspects of daily administration of biosecurity rules and regulations. The course also includes a historical review of biological attacks, examples of different agents with misuse  potential, and a review of the Danish biopreparedness organisation.  The course participants will be presented with various dilemmas and ethical challenges as well. Finally, CBB offers the participants guidance on how to train colleagues at their workplace and maintain sufficient security awareness.

 

Evaluation

Course participants will be evaluated individually in relation to their active participation and engagement. Course approval will be issued after the course. 

 

Language requirements

The course is taught in Danish only.

 

Time and Place

The course is held at Statens Serum Institut, Artillerivej 5, 2300 Copenhagen S.
The course lasts one day, and attendance is compulsory throughout the course.
